Ezekiel 33:11 – ‘Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die?’
Bible Text: Ezekiel 33:10-11 | Speaker: Matthew Dalton | Series: Miscellaneous Gospel Messages | Reading from Ezekiel 33, the speaker considers how a message given by God to the Children of Israel some 2,600 years ago is still relevant today. Focusing on verse 11, the speaker considers firstly the ‘context’ of the verse and the ’cause’ of the Israelites captivity in Babylon. He notes how God is righteous and must punish sin. However, the speaker then turns to reflect upon the ‘compassionate cry’ of God marking how ‘God is love’ and has ‘no pleasure in the death of the wicked’. He marks how God desires that ‘the wicked turn from his way and live’. The speaker then concludes by thinking of the ‘cure’. He notes that whilst God had made it possible for the Children of Israel to have a right standing with God again, it was down to them to repent.
When it comes to the message of the Gospel today, the speaker emphasises how God has made it possible for Men and Women to be saved, because of the work of His Son; the Lord Jesus Christ. The question is, what will you do with the Lord Jesus Christ?
