Paul’s address to the Ephesian elders – Part 4

Speaker:
Passage: Acts 20:25-38
Service Type:

In this fourth part of a five-part study on Acts 20, Jack continues to explore the different facets of the apostle Paul’s ministry. Here he highlights Paul as the Preacher, testifying to “the gospel of the grace of God”; the Herald, “preaching the kingdom of God”; and the Watchman, remaining “pure from the blood of all men.”

Jack then examines the specific warning given to the Ephesian elders (v. 28-31). He notes that before they are warned concerning the flock, they are first told to “take heed unto yourselves.” Practically, Jack suggests that before we can effectively help others, we must “first cast out the beam out of thine own eye” (Matthew 7:5), remembering that “every one of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:12). Finally, Jack focuses on the subsequent verses, exploring the role of overseers and their responsibilities to the flock.
