New Year, New You?
Bible Text: Ecclesiastes 1:9-10, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 | Speaker: Matthew Dalton | Series: Miscellaneous Gospel Messages | In the first Gospel Meeting of the New Year, the speaker takes up the subject of ‘New Things’.
He starts by considering the 54% of the UK population that set so called ‘New Year Resolutions’ each year, and challenges the listener whether completing such brings about any real, lasting change. The speaker links this to the phrase in Ecclesiastes 9; ‘no new thing under the sun’, noting that through the ages, mankind has come up with all manner of ideas, but with no resultant change.
In contrast, the speaker preaches from 2 Corinthians 17, noting that in Christ, ‘old things are passed away’ and ‘all things are become new’.
The speaker concludes by noting that this can be a ‘New Year, New You’ but only when a soul trusts Christ for Salvation.
