The Church of the Living God – Part 2 – Its Purpose
In the second of a series of sermons on the subject of the local assembly, Dan Rudge (Bracknell) expands upon the purpose of the local assembly. He notes that whilst the purpose of the local assembly is principally to glorify God, it is also to promote and protect the truth of God. With that in mind, Dan gives a helpful overview of the “apostles doctrine” laid out in the New Testament by Peter, John, and Paul. In Peter’s writings, Dan notes the emphasis is on the ‘Word of God’, whilst John would speak especially about the ‘Son of God’, and Paul concerning the ‘Church of God’.
In closing, Dan notes that utter devotion to the apostles doctrine in Acts 2, formed the basis of fellowship in the local assembly.
