Tabernacle Treasures – The Boards
Bible Text: Numbers 3:35-37, Exodus 26:15-25 | Speaker: David Dalton | Series: Morning Meditations | Commencing the third set of studies considering the Old Testament Tabernacle, the speaker introduces the responsibilities of the Merarites. Here, the speaker considers their responsibility for the 48 boards of the tabernacle.
The speaker notes how the boards can be representative both of believers individually, and believers collectively in local assemblies. He marks how as the boards of the tabernacle had responsibility for holding up the tabernacle curtains and coverings, the believers; as represented in the boards, have responsibility for holding up truth concerning the Lord Jesus Christ; as pictured in the curtains and coverings.
Reflecting upon the details of the boards, the speaker meditates upon the change that had to be made to turn the shittim wood into the boards. He also observes the silver sockets in which he boards stood as well as the fine gold that covered the boards. He marks the lovely picture that is presented of the Believer in Christ; as a result of the redemption price paid.
Having considered the boards as representative of believers, the speaker turns to consider the boards as a picture of Christ. He meditates upon His perfect humanity and His deity as pictured in the Shittim Boards and Gold respectively.
