Considering each verse in detail, Gary notes how the ‘powers that be are ordained of God’ (v1) and therefore we ‘must needs be subject’ (v5). Through the meeting, Gary considers how Acts 5:29; ‘we ought to obey God rather than men’ does not contradict the teaching that Paul gives to the Saints in Rome at the time of writing, during the rule of Nero, nor that Peter gives in his epistle in 1 Peter 2:13-17.
