God’s Request, Reasonableness, Requirement, Righteousness and Remedy
Bible Text: Isaiah 1:16-19, 28, Hebrews 2:3 | Speaker: Paul Didcott | Series: Gospel Campaign – Spon End 2019 | Concluding the meeting, the speaker considers the Gospel under five headings; ‘God’s request’, ‘God’s reasonableness’, ‘God’s requirement’, ‘God’s righteousness’ and ‘God’s remedy’. Reading firstly from Isaiah 1, the speaker reflects on God’s request, the great invitation to ‘Come now, and let us reason together’. Noting God’s reasonableness, the speaker considers how God has revealed himself in Creation and in his Word. Marking God’s righteousness, the speaker notes how God must punish sin. However, the speaker reflects on God’s remedy, the Lord Jesus Christ, who ‘taketh away the sin of the world’, the one who came to be the mediator between God and men.
The speaker concludes by challenging the listener, ‘How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?’.
