Genesis 1:26 – ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness’

Speaker:
Passage: Genesis 1:26, 1 Timothy 2:5-6
Service Type:

Bible Text: Genesis 1:26, 1 Timothy 2:5-6 | Speaker: David Dalton | Series: Gospel Campaign – Square One 2019 | Continuing the meeting, the speaker starts by recalling his own testimony of how he was saved by the Grace of God. He marks that although he has no university education, he is able to ascribe the letters ‘BA’, ‘MA’ and ‘BEng’ after his name as a result of receiving a free gift. He recalls how on the 2nd February 1975, he was ‘Born Again’ when he trusted Christ for Salvation. At that same point, the speaker notes how he was ‘Made Acceptable’ in the beloved, no longer destined for Hell but now bound for Heaven. As a result, he could know the assurance that his name was ‘Being Engraved’ in the Lambs book of life.

Then, the speaker moves to consider what the Word of God would teach us about Creator God, and his creature Man. Reading from Genesis 1:26, the speaker notes the uniqueness and the implications of the fact that mankind was made in the image and likeness of God. He marks how Man is comprised of a body, soul and spirit. He considers how although Man was made in perfection, Sin came in, bringing separation from God. However, the speaker; reading from 1 Timothy 2:5-6, points to the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who came to be the ‘mediator between God and men’.
