The Church of the Living God – Part 4 – Its Practices
In the fourth sermon in the series, Dan Rudge (Bracknell) explores the practices of the “Church of the Living God”. Structuring his message under three headings, Dan considers ‘the priority’, ‘the principle’, and ‘the purpose’ of local assembly gatherings. Emphasising the principle in gathering, he marks how born again believers are to gather; not to a physical place, as it was in the Old Testament, but rather into the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Unpacking Matthew 18:20, Dan notes how being “gathered together in my name” would speak of His ‘authority’, our ‘association’ with Him, and our ‘attraction’ to Him. Dan concludes the meeting by tracing the Greek word “synagō” through the Acts noting that the Scriptures would present at least 7 different gatherings of the local assembly. He exhorts the audience therefore to give ever greater priority, to “the assembling of ourselves together”.
